[ this dream opens inside a barn. there's a sprinkling of snow outside and inside the barn, there are tables that are filled with empty cages, hay in the corners, horses in the stables, so on. the scene is calm, gentle, and light-hearted.
there's a black girl in overalls -- Cassie -- shoveling hay out for the horses to eat and she lets out a squeal of surprise when a short, dark-haired boy -- Marco -- collapses into the hay, wearing a Santa hat. he's making some joke or comment that makes her huff and grin.
a tall, broad-shouldered boy, Jake, just laughs and adds something in reply, causing Marco to throw hay at him. a equally tall blonde girl is nearby, Rachel and she just adds a witty remark before they're all doubling over, laughing.
however, the moment's interrupted when a blue deer-like creature with a scorpion tail emerges. he's making a comment about something that just causes Marco to sigh and grin and Jake is forced to give an explanation.
and then the obligatory, "Don't call me Prince Jake" comment.
there's a red-tailed hawk sitting in the rafters, watching all of this though, chiming in every once in a while. but the moment lingers when him and Rachel exchange glances before it's interrupted by Marco shoving the Santa hat on Ax's head.
