There was a moment where everything froze when she watched him start to get off the couch, moving his daughter, and approaching her in what seemed like slow motion. (Oh my god, I'm here in my costume and my mask is down and he can figure out exactly who Spider-woman and Jessica Drew are and -- )

Honestly? None of that seemed all that important when he approached her. It was just surprising -- refreshing -- seeing how happy he was... it was kind of strange to her, really.

She paused for a second before grinning broadly, wiggling a couple of fingers in a wave. (Okay, she really didn't have the weirdest costume here. That was slightly comforting.) "Sorry I'm late. I guess you have no choice but to listen to my imitation of a cat dying."
