[ The journal opens to... a gentle tapping. Fingers on the journal, tapping. Tap, tap. It should be familiar sound, as it happens often enough. Once Evangeline decides on what to say, however, she throws up a small filter. ]

[ Filtered from Riful, Arthas, and allies of theirs ]

[ No, that filter doesn't mean this post is important. At least, not in the larger sense. It's pretty important to Eva. ]

There are very few who have earned my respect, either home or here. For centuries, I've watched humanity and felt nothing but disappointment or resentment at what I saw. I can't say that's changed. Even now, I find a good many people here boring, stupid, or both.

Still, I've also found people who are worth having around. People who have intellects deserving respect, or motivation to follow their convictions to the end of the world, or maturity far beyond their years. I'm sure those of you who have earned this respect from me know who you are, and I'd like you to know that I don't give it lightly.

I'd like to take a moment to talk about somebody else who's earned that, if you'll bear with me.

Once, there was a girl here who was foolish enough to take on my training. My training is harsh, meant to break the body and mind of those who are unprepared. Still, she thrived. She threw herself into it with every fiber of her being. Despite being, by most definitions, a normal girl, she grew strong enough to protect her friends. And during that time, she never stopped smiling.

[ There's a long pause here. That's usually not the kind of thing Eva complimented, is it? Still, she continues after a few moments. ]

I respected her drive and determination, and the way her infectious attitude could even make me forget my past for a few moments.

And in a week, she will have been gone from this place for half of a year.

[ There's another pause here, but shorter. ]

Today is her birthday. I had planned on a celebration for her, although in all honesty I have no idea how to even go about that. It's a good thing she's gone, I suppose... at home, she can actually enjoy it, while this is hardly the time nor place for it.

But, for what it's worth, to a girl who is long gone. Happy birthday, Chie.

[ Another long pause here... it really sounds like she's stopped. Before anybody can hurry up and comment, though, she does speak up again. ]

Being in this place really makes me feel my age. Excuse my rambling, it's one of the few joys we older folks can enjoy.

[Jack's... kind of got an idea of what to do here. The handy thing about being a voracious reader. You see a book; you read it. That said, he still sounds a bit anxious on account of, you know, being kidnapped to a magical castle with a talking book for communication. Not exactly a commonplace happenstance in the old west.]

[HM.]
So from what I can tell, seems I ain't got much choice in whether I'm comin' or going 'round here. Means I got plenty of time to ask around about all sorts, right?

[hhhhhhhhhh talking to a book THIS IS SO WEIRD GOD.]

If I ain't goin' nowhere anytime soon, I figure the most pressing matter is findin' out where I can go get a drink 'round these parts. [PRIORITIES] Anyone care to help a fella out?

[Ianto is sat on the steps of the tourist office, a little towel set down on the step so as not to dirty his suit. Death was permeating through the castle and he'd needed to escape to the town and escape the presence of its long intangible tendrils. He stretched out his feet in front of him, the journal in his lap as drew quietly on the corner of the page.]

(OOC: Open post feel free to doodle back or come and speak to the dapper young welshman.)

[With a very undignified grunt, Watson manages to at least sit up and then look around the place, obviously something like a lobby if the decor and such were right, and well its Watson so he ends up just observing the area round him, even noticing the obviously open journal nearby, and even if he is dead acute observation is still a strong skill of his.  This of course means he has to get away from the wall and stand up to go to the journal which just so happens to be on a table near a couch.  So journal listeners and folks nearby watch as his worlds greatest detective curses and growls as he struggles to stand thinking he is alone, noticing the lack of his ever so handy brace.]

Now just what is going on here? If this is some sort of afterlife then it is a very interesting one, taking away my device and giving me all the pain, oh how cruel fate. [This is said after he manages to stand on relatively stable legs, and he oh so carefully makes his way to the couch and sits on it before picking up the journal, glancing up above him first just to drink in all the details] Oh now, that is an impressive chandelier, I wonder how they got it up there, would take quite an effort to do so all things considered...[Yes he is seriously trying to figure that out, so there's some quiet mutterings and musings here before he looks down at the journal and starts to thumb through it, trying to figure it all out.]

Now, this is either some very elaborate thing going on in the afterlife, or some, Cabal scheme, or, this journal is actually telling the truth and I am in some, other, world. [Sounding very skeptical here as he is after all talking into a book and he really doesn't trust the whole it's magic explanation] So, if this thing works by voice entries as it seems to, then just where am I exactly? [He'll start small then well work his way up to more in depth questions, plus well his voice is starting to show his pain a little and he can't stand for that.]

((OOC: Open!  First post and James is in the lobby, he's also obviously talking into the journal so have at him in either place? XD))

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
