[Balthazar wakes up on the floor of his room in Paradisa, having no idea where he is, and assuming he is dead because, you know, Cas stabbed him in the back.]

Well this is unpleasant.

[Sounds of shuffling can be heard as Balthazar struggles to sit up from the awkward position he landed in.]

Castiel? What was that for?

[A pause as he looks around.]

Cas? What did you do?

[A sigh is heard.]

Cas, I’m sorry, it was for your own good.

[There is a rustle that sounds like wings, and then a groan.]

Oh for the love of…

[Another pause.]

Thirty Two

HEY!

[One little word holds a lot of meaning. For one, it's not directed at the journal, but easily picked up as the book lays unnoticed nearby. The word is low and guttural, but sharp, trying to catch the attention of the nearby guard, but also hinting confusing.]

[Last thing Maine remembered was standing with the team briefing their next mission, and now he's here. He's assuming things went off without a hitch and celebration involved far more beer then he had a right to physically imbibe, but he wouldn't mind the details.]

[If anyone is out on the castle grounds this morning, they will notice a new face. At least she's dressed for the weather; in fact, she makes a rather striking figure in her fur lined cloak.

One moment Catelyn Stark was staring at Jamie Lannister’s smug face and the next she was standing in front of a castle, still holding the bloodied rock in her gloved hand. She lets it fall to the ground, staining the snow with traces of the Kingslayer’s blood. Her eyes are transfixed on the castle, but her gaze is distant. Eventually, she comes to the only logical conclusion and speaks it aloud, not knowing that the journal is there to record her every word.]

I’ve gone mad at last.

[It’s hardly surprising. She’s been hanging on by a thread for some time now. And since she heard about Ned…well, she had felt that she might lose her senses, even if she didn’t actually expect to. But Catelyn is a sensible woman, mad or not, and she has no intention of remaining out in the cold, even in her own delusions. So, slowly, moving as a woman within a dream (or perhaps a nightmare), she’ll start towards the castle, the Stark motto ringing in her head. “Winter is Coming,” it went. Well, for her, at least, winter was here.]

[ooc: Kissing is not recommended. It probably doesn't need to be said, but she's not in a good mental place. Open over the journal (it'll catch up with her or she'll notice it) or in person anywhere from the grounds to the castle.]

[all week, Barney has been wandering the castle, in search of hapless people surrounded by fairies. he has pretty much snogged every single one of them so far - and yet, it is not enough. it's just NOT. he entered into this contest with Crowley and Faye, and he is In It To Win It.

as such, he's trapped one of the fairies. he then put it in a terrarium with a mesh top so that it can breathe, and a little dish with some cookies and milk - hey, that's what you feed Magical Christmas Things - and wrapped the whole thing. The lid has a giant bow on it, and is removable. it pretty much looks like the most beautiful present that ever presented. he's put it on a little table next to the blinged-out Christmas tree, and is sitting next to it in a red suit with white pinstripes. there's a sign next to it:

FREE CHRISTMAS COOKIES
(with donation to the Paradisa Townspeople Fund)

and yes, there is actually a plate of cookies. he's doing something nice for the holidays ... but be careful. IT'S A TARP.]

XVIII.

[Hellboy isn't stupid.

He's seen people alluding to magical kisses over the journal, and he's even had people warn him about it directly.

But damn it, he can't stay cooped up in his room forever. He's got to make a wreath, after all -- even though Advent is halfway over -- and using ambiguous magic branches for a Christmas decoration just doesn't seem right.

So he's currently walking around in the woods a fair distance from the castle, as that's probably his best bet avoiding, you know, people. And potential unwanted kissing. Anyway, he's looking for branches. An exciting afternoon.

After awhile of not seeing anybody, he starts to feel a little confident. Maybe he's lucky? Who knows. Regardless, he dictates into the journal.]

So has anybody ever actually managed to avoid the whole kissing thing?

It was safe to say that Wes was a bit nervous about this date he'd arranged. It was supposed to be a surprise. A way to try to break the dating curse they'd been experiencing by not over-planning it. And so, he'd only talked to Lana about it, getting her to arrange them a table at the Il Capriccio. He'd contacted Fred only a few hours beforehand and had asked her to come to his house instructing her (rather cryptically) to wear something nice. He had resisted her questions and closed the journal before he was tempted to give her any hints.

Fred was stubborn but more than that she had a tendency towards insatiable curiosity. She would come. And hopefully she would also be quite interested to know what he had up his sleeve.

[snow, hun? well since it's been awhile since he's gone out and just enjoyed himself in the snow, Kaito decides to head outside again. He's not exactly dressed for the weather but that was one of the perks of having Belial's fire powers - internal heating whenever he wanted so he's quite comfortable as is.
