[The cemetery, now that it's nearing the end of the festivities, looks a little different. Decorative throw pillows, if you didn't leave any customary ones for your dearly departed, have been provided for all of the graves, sitting neatly near the flowers and other decorations and offerings. A table has been placed next to the entrance, an imitation of the more personal shrines, should people wish to make any more grand gestures before the evening is through.

The cemetery itself, in a blank spot has a large spread out picnic blanket and a battery run boom box, playing slightly uplifting music to fill up the background, a few baskets are next to it, for people to enjoy food and drink and dancing for a few hours, before the dead are compelled to come sit on their graves

[He chuckles a little ruefully.]

Well, it wasn't exactly easy yesterday morning. I had to build a shrine for Tex and she had to build one for me. In the same room. Talk about awkward.

[identity profile] cricketycricket.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
That .... well, yes. [he sighs] I don't dare ask who the other shrines in our room are for. There are .... quite a few.
encryptedlock: (i call dibs)

[personal profile] encryptedlock 2010-11-03 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
I'm kinda surprised Delta ended up getting one of his own, but...you know, one of his brother AI didn't make it.

[identity profile] cricketycricket.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
.... Because of the Meta, or ....? [he watches the little ghostly hologram, curiously]

[York shakes his head.]

He was still Maine to us at home. Ever wonder why Wash doesn't have an AI?

[identity profile] cricketycricket.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
I ... [he's quiet for a moment] I suppose I had simply assumed that both he and Tex had their AIs taken by him. A poor assumption, I'm guessing...?
encryptedlock: (yeah no)

[personal profile] encryptedlock 2010-11-03 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
[His voice is gentle, but not particularly depressed.]

Epsilon was unstable. When they put him into a host, he self-terminated.

That's why Wash is kinda crazy sometimes.

[identity profile] cricketycricket.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Five's hand flies up to his mouth of its own accord, even though he knows this isn't supposed to be a day for sorrow. the thought of it is still horrible, and his hearts break as he watches the AI and the little blue ghost]

Oh...!
encryptedlock: (well maybe)

[personal profile] encryptedlock 2010-11-03 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. But here he is, you know? Castle counts him as much of a person as anyone else.

[identity profile] cricketycricket.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
[somehow, York knew just what to say to bring the smile back to the Doctor's face]

Which is as it should be. [and to demonstrate his point, there's the ghost of a human-sized robot ambling over, red eyes glowing softly in the evening light]

Well, hullo, Kamelion...!
encryptedlock: (oh hello there)

[personal profile] encryptedlock 2010-11-03 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
[York laughs and waves to the somewhat nonresponsive robot ghost.]

Friend of yours?

[identity profile] cricketycricket.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
A dear companion, yes. He wasn't with us too long, poor fellow ... the Master got the better of him, corrupted his programming, and I ...

[well, it was a mercy killing.]

He asked me to. It was a sacrifice, really. To help us all escape. If it weren't for him, I'd be buried in lava. Certainly not here.

[he's trying to put a good spin on it! is it working? maybe.] He was remarkable, you know. He could project a hologram around himself to look like anyone he pleased.
encryptedlock: (green light it)

[personal profile] encryptedlock 2010-11-03 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
[York nods and gives a quick salute to the robot.]

Understand that well enough.

Good to see him again?

[identity profile] cricketycricket.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Quite, really. He was singing, earlier... the song he was playing when I first met him. [laughs at the memory]

Though, at the time, I thought he was King John of England...!
encryptedlock: (keep talking)

[personal profile] encryptedlock 2010-11-03 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
[He chuckles.]

Very useful, that. And, well. It's good that we remember them.

Sometimes it's too easy to forget.

[identity profile] cricketycricket.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Out of sight, out of mind, yes ... sometimes I even forget who I was.

[now, THAT was a head-trip - looking in the mirror and seeing his other faces floating over his own.... thanks, Paradisa]
encryptedlock: (are you sure)

[personal profile] encryptedlock 2010-11-03 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Do you think we'll keep the shrines, come midnight?

[identity profile] cricketycricket.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Hm, now there's a thought. But if we don't? There's no reason we can't rebuild them again, simply to remind ourselves.
encryptedlock: (green light it)

[personal profile] encryptedlock 2010-11-03 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
...I think I will. Maybe not the candy skulls, but.

[He nods over at the little hologram.]

[identity profile] cricketycricket.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
I think that would be lovely. May I store a copy in the TARDIS databanks, as well? So she'll be able to know who Carolina was, as well?
encryptedlock: (are you sure)

[personal profile] encryptedlock 2010-11-03 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
[...He's more touched by that than he can say, really. So it takes him a moment to respond.]

Yeah. Yeah, of course you can. I'll give you everything of hers I got.

[identity profile] cricketycricket.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, York.

[pause] I met another friend of yours, today. Kat Noble....?
encryptedlock: (get a closer look)

[personal profile] encryptedlock 2010-11-03 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Noble-Two? [He nods.] Yeah, she's a Spartan rather than a Freelancer - a real Spartan. They're the real heroes of the war.

[identity profile] cricketycricket.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
You must look up to her very much, then, I'd wager.
encryptedlock: (is that safe?)

[personal profile] encryptedlock 2010-11-03 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. If we got a Spartan, there's nothing this castle can throw at us we can't handle.
