[thread] Yazoo and ducks get caught in the Lana frustration vortex

Who: Lana, Yazoo, Duckies
What: Lana's throwing a fit and Yazoo wanders upon it
When: This afternoon/evening
Where: Lana's room/hallway
Rating: R for language

Lana had propped her door open to get a nice cross breeze through her room due to the beautiful temperature outside. She hadn't had any duck problems yet which she supposed was good. She didn't particularly like duck poop on her things.
What WASN'T good was her inability to be productive at ALL with her HAND! There was a littering of pens that she'd flung in frustration scattered all about her floor. Some guitar tabs were strewn in a corner and she was now, after giving up writing with her hand again, attempting to tie her shoe. If she did it ever so slowly and carefully....she could do it....she'd gotten one earlier but then chosen to just not wear shoes rather than deal with two left hands trying to tie the other one. She was SO determined, though, to beat this stupid thing that the castle had thrown at her that she had been trying all afternoon to do all of the things it was preventing her from doing. At this point, after failing all of the tasks she'd set out for herself, she was very frustrated. VERY...FRUSTRATED!

For the three-hundreth time the knot on her shoe slipped through as she was trying to pull it tight. "GOD DAMNIT!" she swore loudly. She stood up and tossed her free shoe down onto the floor then picked up her foot and yanked off the other one. "SHIT!" she yelled as well as she tripped, trying to pull off her other shoe. She almost went down but caught herself, her shoe popping off as she did so. She began to rant a long string of profanity and chucked the shoe out her door. It hit the opposite door from hers with a satisfying thud and she plopped herself down in her chair and let her head drop down to her desk with a resounding CLUNK. She whimpered pathetically as she sat like that with her arms outstretched over her desk and her forehead pressed against it.

“Quack, quack, quack!”

Yazoo had just tried walking past the first duck again for the umpteenth time as they wandered through the hallways of the castle. And what happened was the same as the last times he’d tried. The duck would snap at his feet and refuse to let him pass. By now, he was resisting the urge to kick the animal and send it flying down the hallway, something he had been thinking about doing. But for reasons unknown he just couldn’t bring himself to go through with it. The other duck continued to walk along beside him, following his every move, and he had recently discovered that it would only walk on his left side, something that made Yazoo shake his head and roll his eyes.

As the trio reached the fifteenth floor, yelling and the sounds of things being thrown around caught his attention and, curious, he followed the noises until he found the room they were coming from. Wasn’t that Lana’s voice? He reached out to push the door a little more open so he could peer in, but had to quickly step out of the way as a shoe went flying past, just barely missing his head. The ducks obviously thought the incident was funny, as they both broke out into another round of loud quacking and waddled into the room.

He crouched and picked up the shoe before following the ducks into the room, only stopping when he saw Lana and raised an eyebrow at the way she was sitting. “You know, if you didn’t want me in your room, all you had to do was say something,” he said with a small smirk, tossing her shoe down onto the floor before crossing his arms loosely over his chest.

Yazoo laughed at the reaction that his sudden appearance elicited from her. “I would apologize, but then I’d only be lying,” he said with a smirk, reaching up to swipe some hair back behind his shoulder as he did.

When the ducks were mentioned, he merely shrugged and explained, “I had no choice. They won’t let me go anywhere without them.” He looked at the one that liked to snap at his feet, watching it for a second before turning back to Lana. “So,” he began, giving her another smirk, “what’s all the fuss about?”

Walking over to the bed, he plopped himself down on the edge, crossing his legs and leaning back on his hands. After making himself comfortable, he gave Lana an expectant look, still smirking slightly.

Choking back a laugh at Lana’s antics, Yazoo pretended to be crushed by her words and turned away from her to look out the window. “I knew you would be nothing but a disappointment,” he said with a sigh, a feigned wistful look crossing his features.

He was finding it harder and harder to stop himself from laughing outright at the entire situation, so he drew his legs up and wrapped his arms around them. With his face now completely hidden from view, it was easier to keep up his upset façade, and stifled a snicker. The more it looked like a sob, the better. He just wondered how long he could keep this up before she caught on.
