I looked into your eyes...
Who: Uchiha Sasuke and Haruno Sakura
What: Sakura runs into her once-upon-a-time teammate as he returns to his room. The one right across the hall from hers.
When: 10/19
Where: 2nd Floor, Cair Paradisa
Rating: PG Ridiculous; will update as necessary
Sakura pushed her hair back off her forehead, eyeing the forehead protector that sat on her dresser. She meant to put it back on after her shower, but varios distraction after various distract had meant that she'd left it lying out, unattended. Not that it mattered. The not-quite-phantasms that seemed to put their invisible hands into everything around here were holding off for now. Early on, in her nonverbal, highly gesticulative way, Sakura had put a stop to them moving her things around (what she called their attempts to pick up after her, since they were almost instantaneous at the time) and secured herself the right to clean up after herself, to an extent.
They were still polishing the bathroom tile, but she wasn't sure if there was any real way to get them to stop that particular ridiculous shenanigan.
Sighing, she moved over to her dresser, closing her eyes to absorb the only sounds she really vocalized anymore. Her tongue clicked; yes, that was definitely her. She whistled a note, a poor imitation of a bird's call from back home, and was also content knowing that noise, too, could be traced back to her. Pushing air out against the back of her teeth produced a hiss; while her laughter didn't have volume, she'd found (unintentially) that it still came from her guy, every so often. Her own hands told her nothing was wrong with her vocal folds -- her voice was simply not there.
But she was learning that didn't make her silent, not if she didn't want to be. Bending over and tying in her headband, Sakura figured that was more than she might have been granted, and for that, she was glad. As much as she was missing the sound ofher own voice, and hating her inability to speak out as she was used to, she was otherwise healthy, hale, and whole -- no missing memories, no mysterious missing skills.
Simply, she thought, stepping out into the hall, a certain lack of -- Sasuke-kun.
And while this indeed was also true, it was hardly the logical conclusion to her throught process, and instead a reaction to a person she'd been "trying" to see since she learned he was here with her, let alone that he was across the hall. Now he was there, and Sakura felt (no, knew) she couldn't let this chance slip by uncommented upon.
Which explained why she was clapping her hands together with a deliberate, loud smack, if it wasn't explaining the peculiar mix of relief and tension visible on her face.

He was trying just about anything to get himself focused. From all the information he'd gathered from people, despite how they seemed so content with being here, Sasuke couldn't afford to slack off or lose focus on his goals so he was determined to do everything he could to find some way out of this place or at least be somewhat prepared during his stay here. He'd vaguely had an idea of what he was up to previously except for the losses he had or even had at this moment.
It had already been more than a week and it was getting to him. The idea of having lost something it didn't sit well with him at all, but he wasn't going to get anywhere trying to figure it out right then at least. In any case, despite all that he had things to do, people to kill and being unable to complete his goals due to being stuck here was frustrating enough without hearing about the outcome of his future. It was unnerving to say the least, though having killed Danzou was a good thing but what purpose did he have now, especially in this place? Sasuke didn't really have an answer to that yet but he couldn't waste his time repeating past mistakes here. The bonds he had, he broke them for a reason and rebuilding them was the last thing he wanted to do.
He'd finally reached his room when someone stepped out of theirs across from him just moments after. There was no mistaking that the chakra he'd sensed belonged to Sakura. He was well aware she lived in the room directly opposite his and though he'd preferred not to speak with or run into her, he knew it was most likely inevitable. He wasn't about to turn and acknowledge her, but the sudden sound that came from her clapping her hands rather loudly did make him glance towards her, since he would have expected her to just call out his name.

As it was, she walked over to him, swallowing that spike of adrenaline that remembered what she'd been trying to do the last time she'd approached Sasuke, and how well that had ended -- or almost ended. He hadn't quite become the self he was headed toward now, and Ino's words lurked in the back of Sakura's mind, explaining the "truth" of some things, and how Sasuke had the ability to turn himself around.
She wished Naruto was here.
As she approached, she gave him a little wave of her fingers, a perfunctory greeting in the face of the kind she'd usually give, back home. There was a choice to make, and in that moment before she reached his side, Sakura wondered if she'd make one of the better ones. She couldn't quite smile at first, thinking, How hard is it realizing Konoha is as selfish as the rest of the world? As that thought passed through her mind, she managed to smile. Not all that heart-felt, because right now she din't really know how to smile at Sasuke, when there was so little she thought she could offer him, but it was part of an effort.
Mouthing, "It's nice to see you," Sakura stopped at his side, well within reaching distance. He didn't feel like he'd felt back at home. She wondered what accounted for the difference, and if that was something that could change in both places: Paradisa, and their world.

He didn't make any other movements as she approached him, mostly since he knew that in this castle there was nowhere he could exactly go since they were both trapped in there for now with no visible exit in sight either. It didn't help that their rooms were situated across from each other despite how rarely Sasuke went there. Today being on of those times, it was ironic that Sakura just had to be there at that moment. With the situation being as it is, he figured he would just let Sakura say what she wanted, ignore it and then be on his way.
Sasuke watched as she just waved at his at first only to mouth words at his as a response while she moved closer toward him. Though it was simple enough to guess she was greeting him it was still odd to see, especially since like earlier he had expected her to verbally say something to him.
Not even paying attention to such pleasantries, he got straight to the point, not really wanting to waste time conversing with his former teammate "Was there something you wanted to say, Sakura?"

Very funny. If he'd been paying attention to the journal, she'd even be tempted to slap him for that. (Sakura suspected, however, that he wasn't trying to make a mockery of what she'd lost. His attitude wasn't quite right for it.)
There was so much she'd love to say, so much she'd love to ask, but to do that, she'd need him to have the patience to read her questions as she wrote them. Her journal was the most convenient way, but -- and here, she held up a hand to Sasuke, as if asking him to stop -- she had other things on hand for writing with.
Pulling out a small spiral-bound notepad, along with a pencil, she wrote a quick question.
What are you planning to do?
For all the things she might ask, it was the most direct. Turning the pad to face him, she arched her eyebrows up in mute question, her eyes opening wider as if trying to absorb any detail of his expression in these moments. She pursed her lips, reminding herself not to attempt to speak.
It was a difficult thing to remind herself of, but the lack of sound that accompanied her attempts at talking was more frustrating than swallowing those attempts from the start.

Sasuke just stood there waiting for her to get on with it, giving her a questioning look as she made a quick hand motion as if to signal him to stop before she took out something to write with.
She had to write it down, really? He was about to comment on it but instead he just scoffed as he read the question she had written down for him. "It shouldn't concern you"

But it does.
Sakura held that up to Sasuke too, lips pursed together in a thin line. She wouldn't let him brush this off. The worst he could do, he'd already attempted twice. Ignoring her here wouldn't be worse than back home, but it was something she could choose not to allow.
Ino had been right about that much, just like Naruto had been right to never lose faith in Sasuke. Sakura had lost it once. She couldn't afford to lose it again. I've seen you guys turn it around more than once. It's only a matter of time.
Sakura held those words close to her heart, and... forced herself to relax. What would Naruto do? Searching Sasuke's face, letting the paper she'd written on drop, she found she wasn't sure. But he'd be persistent about whatever it was.
And he'd probably smile while doing it.
So what are you planning to do?
And how can I help you?

There was a part of him knew that he wasn't going to find a way out of this place as quickly as he'd hoped given the fact it had already been more than a week since his arrival here, so he had to make do with this, didn't he?
Looking at the paper again seeing Sakura repeat her previous question, he just ignored it "I already gave you my answer"
