though I have a broken heart
Who: Faye and Crowley
What: Some things just push you
When: Saturday
Where: Some little hallway
Rating: PG-13
Faye was tired. Sleep hadn't been the easiest thing to come by anyway lately-- monsters in town, people from home coming and going, a summer cold piled on top for good measure. And then the castle goes and takes away her room. It was all a little much, and it was wearing on her. It put her in a weird place.
Last night had been a total bust. The couches were taken, the emergency communal sleeping area was just too... communal. So, maybe she was hoping to find better luck now that she'd stayed awake all night and for most of the day. That's really the only way she could explain why she now found herself wandering through random hallways, overtired and a little drunk, with a pillow and blanket tucked under one arm and a box of kleenex under the other. She really had no idea where she'd gotten any of these objects-- she told herself that she probably just wished them up, but she vaguely remembered stealing them from someone. Possibly by force.
Either way, she was wandering, many kinds of miserable, and looking like a mess.

"Still?"
no subject
"Still. This place is cruel."
Just a bit of seriousness seeping into her melancholy.
no subject
"So is any world. This place is just better at it."

Luckily, she was too tired to be terrified. She needed closeness too badly to push him away right now-- despite certain things he'd admitted recently.
"It's more creative."
no subject
"That it is, we just have to find creative ways to beat it, hmm?"
no subject
Aside from what she was currently doing, of course. She currently didn't have any coping mechanisms to even pretend at anymore. Even wanting to think something up took too much energy.
no subject
"Now, ideas, that's something I'm very good at."
no subject
"Ideas that will make things better?"
no subject
"So doubtful of my abilities, Valentine?"
no subject
"Just a healthy amount of skepticism."

She sidled up a little closer, a little more unabashed about it.
And then, kind of out of nowhere-- "Vicious is gone."
no subject
"What? Just left?"
no subject
no subject
"So. What now?"
no subject
Hence her current situation.

He sighed, his hand brushing through her hair in a half-idle-half-affectionat kind of way.
"Probably best not to make any plans anyway."
no subject
His fingers running through her hair pulled a weary sigh out of her. She couldn't hope to pretend not to love the gesture.
"I've also given up on trying to figure out what's going on anywhere. Nothing makes sense anymore."
no subject
The demon made an amused sound, continuing with the gesture.
"Oh? Not a single thing huh?"
no subject
"Nope, not a thing."
Which, was pretty much true. Nothing in her life made sense right then, including them. ...I didn't mean that she wasn't enjoying herself, though.

"Ugh... don't say that. If you jinx me, you're a dead man."
no subject
He looked quite amused now. Hey, she wasn't racing off to who knows where, it was an improvement as far as he was concerned.
