though I have a broken heart
Who: Faye and Crowley
What: Some things just push you
When: Saturday
Where: Some little hallway
Rating: PG-13
Faye was tired. Sleep hadn't been the easiest thing to come by anyway lately-- monsters in town, people from home coming and going, a summer cold piled on top for good measure. And then the castle goes and takes away her room. It was all a little much, and it was wearing on her. It put her in a weird place.
Last night had been a total bust. The couches were taken, the emergency communal sleeping area was just too... communal. So, maybe she was hoping to find better luck now that she'd stayed awake all night and for most of the day. That's really the only way she could explain why she now found herself wandering through random hallways, overtired and a little drunk, with a pillow and blanket tucked under one arm and a box of kleenex under the other. She really had no idea where she'd gotten any of these objects-- she told herself that she probably just wished them up, but she vaguely remembered stealing them from someone. Possibly by force.
Either way, she was wandering, many kinds of miserable, and looking like a mess.

"I wish I knew what I did to deserve this."
Now that she was feeling a little better, she gave a look around--at herself, the things in her arms, where she was--and her eyes settled on a wonderfully cushioned bench against the wall. Ah, yes. That was precisely what she wanted. So, Faye and her pillow and blanket and box of kleenex ambled over to pile onto it.

After the smallest of hestitations, he followed her, moving to lounge on it, pushing a little of the blanket out of his way.
"And the reason for the blanket is?"
He already knew, of course, it was probably the same reason he was avoiding his own room. Bloody castle playing silly buggers again.

"I'm tired."
It was a true answer, at the very least.
no subject
"Right. Of course. Ask a stupid question..."
no subject
It had been a while.
"There isn't a decent place to sleep in this whole stupid castle."

The demon made a throughtful noise, looking at the ceiling.
"Seems like it's making an extra effort, lately, to be an arse, don't you think?"
no subject
But then, with a sigh, some of the dryness left her tone, and she pulled the blanket up over her shoulder.
"...Yeah. Kind of seems that way."

One hand moved to circle around her arm, his action semi-concious.
"Think we all pissed it off somehow?"
no subject
"Do you think if we said we were sorry, it would matter?"
She rearranged her pillow a little before resting her head again-- maybe a little closer to him this time.
no subject
"In case you haven't noticed, Valentine, I very rarely say sorry to anyone. They have to really deserve it."
Meaning her, of course. She deserved it. Usually.
no subject
"It would probably just laugh at us if we tried, anyway. I don't think I'm going to give it the satisfaction."
no subject
"Better to just keep spitting into it's face, hmm?"

One hand moved to her hair, brushing through it a little without properly realising.
"Still. It's not all bad."
no subject
"...I guess."
no subject
"There's all the free stuff it gives us, for one."
no subject
She could play this game, for now. A little distraction from everything else.
no subject
"Like your own personal servants," he chuckled a little.

Despite her discontent, however, she was looking more and more comfortable where she was at. Her misery with the castle wasn't lessening any, but she at least seemed very content with where she'd chosen to run this time.
no subject
"Still?"
no subject
"Still. This place is cruel."
Just a bit of seriousness seeping into her melancholy.
no subject
"So is any world. This place is just better at it."
no subject
Luckily, she was too tired to be terrified. She needed closeness too badly to push him away right now-- despite certain things he'd admitted recently.
"It's more creative."
no subject
"That it is, we just have to find creative ways to beat it, hmm?"
no subject
Aside from what she was currently doing, of course. She currently didn't have any coping mechanisms to even pretend at anymore. Even wanting to think something up took too much energy.
