Hey, Steph? I'm out of some things in the home. Do you think you could go and buy some stuff?

[ she shuts the door when steph leaves and turns around to look at damian, trying to study his expression while still trying to be as calm and casual about this. ]

When she gets back, we'll have some chocolate cake to share together.

[ she moves a little closer but still provides him with enough room to feel safe. she bends over a bit, frowning slightly. ]

I'm sorry it wasn't him.

[ it's always something along those lines every time bruce leaves or something happens with his father. it's easy to see through those lies. ]

At least he's not. [ tilts her head. ] Are you okay? You were both really quiet.

[ she blinks a few times, confused. ]

I thought it's what you've always wanted, to get to know him.

It's not fair, I know, but then it's like you get a fresh start with your dad.

But I don't think you should give up on getting to know him if he shows up here or that you should not want to be his son. I think it would hurt any parent to hear that from their child.
